they are just some kind of crane fly they eat mosquito's so don't kill them :D amazing shot btw

i think that's more of a species of cranefly. Daddy long legs are an arachnid, but not technically a spider, they only have a single round body and as for true spiders, they have 2 parts to their bodies. Daddy long legs do eat mosquitoes but prefer to drink juices from plants and berries.

... I don't think that's a daddy long-leg... Daddy-long legs are a breed of arachnid (spiders are arachnids too, but a daddy long-leg is not a spider). Looks awesome though... almost cute

Huh that's weird. They call those things daddy long legs in Newfoundland, Canada too. We call them (male)mosquitos where I live.

Daddy long legs are those round spiders with the spindly legs :) This looks like a dragonfly or something, but it's a beautiful picture regardless!

Thanks :) It's mostly in the UK and Ireland that these crane flys are called daddy longlegs. Ewww, I know which spiders you mean, they are horrible :/ x

Well that appears more like a mammoth mosquito, which is a large mosquito that feeds on the smaller mosquitoes. But they are close in appearance to daddy-long-legs

what part of the world do you live in, We don't have those down here we have as you say Large mosquitoes....and now I see the difference between the two species it's the mouth...the rest is almost exactly the same.
